Coming out to family, friends, and neighbors isn't easy. Sometimes they won't understand who you are- which is the same person you've always been. If you are going to come out to your family and they are homophobic/transphobic then I suggest a few things.

1) Subtly dropping hints about your sexuality/ gender. (example) Leaving the TV on as they are about to enter the room when it's broadcasting a pride parade, mentioning rainbows/other pride colors a LOT, leaving the computer screen on ...
